Can you build a fence during the Oklahoma winter months? The short answer is yes. Can the process take longer depending on the weather? The other short answer is yes. At Fence Builders of Oklahoma, we've been building in all seasons over the years and have the knowledge base to get the job done. Most people will ask, what about the concrete setting up for the posts. The long answer is that typically this type of delay in process with building a fence where the ground is so cold, or below freezing temps to prevent concrete from setting up happens in much colder climates than we see here in northeast Oklahoma. Now, we can have stretches of really cold below freezing temperatures but is rather uncommon. But, it happens nonetheless. Typically soil temperatures in northeast Oklahoma don't fall below freezing. Concrete heats up in the curing process. So much so, that in the summer time you will see home building crews watering a foundation that they recently poured to help the concrete "cure" slower to prevent cracking. In the winter, it cures much slower, especially if its cold outside. We add a special chemical to our concrete mix to help the concrete set up faster than it normally would in the winter months to allow us to complete the fence in an efficient time and still provide the structural support for the longevity of the fence.
