The fence construction process starts with the removal of your old fence, (if there is one). Once that's completed we start with solid 4x4 ACQ pressure treated posts with a .04 ground rating designed for ground contact. These posts are spaced 8 feet apart and set in a 24 inch hole and secured with a full 80lb bag of wet mixed concrete. This helps prevent the post from premature rotting and becoming unleveled over time. We don't skip on cost for quality materials and use landscape timbers like other companies. What does all this mean to you?  Your fence posts are where it all starts with keeping the overall stability of your fence. Having your fence posts put in a 2 foot hole and solidified with 80 pounds of concrete is a sure way to make sure your going to have a fence that won't bow or lean for years. Using pressure treated 4x4 posts, is the superb  way to make sure your getting quality materials that won't rot and break over time.
Other options are available such as schedule 40 galvanized posts where drainage problems can cause premature rotting and decay.

Text Box: All of these fundamental building techniques and products above are also used to build a number of other quality built fences including cap rail, lattice fences, picket fences, board on board, and shadow box.
Cap Rail- 2x8 20 foot cedar boards are used for less seams as well as 1x4x16 rough cedar trim pieces.
Lattice Fences- Premium lattice is used with cap rail and trim covering seams

Once the posts have set up in the concrete for approximately 48 hours, Douglas Fir 2x4's are secured to the posts using 12, 3inch screw shank nails. This is not an expense that is overlooked by us. This well help maintain a more solid, longer lasting fence over time.
Other alternative options include using 3 inch deck screws for an extra cost. Pressure treated 2x4's are also available.
What does all this mean to you?  When your runners are secured with nails or screws it means that your fence is going to be more stable and solid over a longer period of time. Screws generally have a longer holding strength than nails do. On the other hand, nails offer a lower cost alternative to screws. Both generally have minimum holding lifetime of 15 years. We let the customer decide on the appropriate fastener that best suits there application needs.
Douglas fir 2x4s are pound for pound the strongest soft wood available in the construction industry. The tree itself is mainly  heartwood which naturally prevents warping and bowing offering a permanently straight fence unlike pressure treated yellow pine. Several independent studies have been done showing that untreated Douglas fir used for outdoor applications has the same weathering characteristics as cedar, normally 15-20 years.

In each one of our premium pickets we nail a total of 5 nails. Not 3 nails like other companies to save money. For your fence this provides more stability to your pickets that will allow greater retained strength over the years. We also use hot dipped galvanized, ring shank nails rather than galvanized nails. Other companies use galvanized nails to cut down on costs. While using galvanized nails actually speeds up the rotting process and creates extreme nail stains, hot dipped galvanization does not. Cedar is the only type of wood we install for our fence pickets. This is absolutely the best type of wood available to resist against rotting, insects, and warping. Our fence pickets come all the way from the state of Washington. The Columbian pickets that we install are by far the best picket in the industry with a smooth milled side and a rough milled side on the other. They are 11/16in. thick unlike the standard hardware store special at 5/8 in. thick. The Columbia picket is milled from the eastern side of the mountain away from the western sea board, and cut from younger trees with more heartwood and fewer branches produces virtually few knot holes and longer lasting pickets.  A thicker pickets means a longer lasting picket that wont split, warp, or bow. Straight from the mill the pickets are dried to 95% to prevent and minimize picket shrinkage which produces gaping between pickets over time. This is hands down, the absolute best picket to install that will resist insects, weather, bowing, and splitting.  Click the link above to learn more about Columbia cedar!

Privacy Fence comes in many variations and is a premium enclosure for your home or business. Wood fencing offers naturally beauty and top rate security. The most popular is the standard six foot fence but can also come in heights from four foot to eight feet. Different picket sizes are available in 4 inch and 6 inch wide boards with two popular tops, "dog eared and gothic". Premium additions can be added such as 2x8 rough cedar cap rail with trim or an eight foot fence with lattice, cap rail, and trim. The board on board fence creates a unique look to your backyard while the shadowbox "good neighbor" fence is equally beautiful to both neighbors on either side of the fence. Below you can take a step by step look at the quality construction process and premium materials used to build our one of a kind fences.
